Henri Rousseau's paintings of Sleeping Gypsy and The Dream have influenced my work since I was a child visiting MOMA with my grandmother. The large scale allowed me to enter the world of the painter. Looking back I see how many paintings I have done of women dreaming along a riverbed often with a large animal behind her.
